A fair few months back, Lynn, one of the share services ladies at work, asked me to write her a poem about a mullet. This is what I came up with.
I went to the river to mull it over
How do you shift the weight off these shoulders?
Then distracted by some ripples in the water.
A mullet jumped, my reflection was distorted.
I watched as the barrage continued
Like rocks being thrown into the river
I realised, to follow the fish is the answer,
To try and break the surface of the water.
I hope you enjoy it. I have not yet found the courage to upload any of my serious poetry or song lyrics. Maybe soon.
